BRAND NEW INFORMATION!

This is a "Brand New Information!" alert. Did you know that boxes of Saran Wrap and Aluminum Foil have perforated punch-in's to keep the roll in the box when you are pulling the wrap or foil out? Neither did I!



Now I wonder how long have those little punch-in's have been there and I've never noticed? Humph.

If you already knew about this, then it is not brand new information to you. Aside from that, why didn't you tell me?!

I admit it. I love sarcasm. It makes me laugh. I feel that a good sense of humor is the ability to laugh at ourselves, mock our idiosyncrasies and being able to make a joke at our own expense.
I ran across a website that is chock full of sarcasm and it totally makes me laugh. I know in advance, this will not be for everybody. But if you enjoy sarcasm, like I do, read on.

Ever heard of Successories? They have an entire line of motivational products. Their posters have lined countless office walls and thereby inspired the masses. Despair.com is the the antithesis to Successories. They have created an entire line of DEmotivators! Even their tagline is funny; Increasing success by lowering expectations.

This Day makes our TOP TEN LEAST FAVORITE DAYS list.

The day started out with a fever of....well, I've taken Nathan's temperature so many times today, I can't even remember what it was. It was high enough to keep him home and let my boss & team know that I'd be taking care of him at home while working. Which means inconsistent availability.

Nathan's fever floated between low hundreds to...107.3 - now let me just say something before I go any further. I already know - and have been told - that Nathan wouldn't have been conscious if his fever were that high. I'm just saying THAT is what I saw - twice - on our Temporal Scanner Thermometer.


We rushed to Urgent Care. Twenty minutes later, Nathan's temperature registered 103.something. At which time I am 'informed' that Nathan's temperature could NOT have been 107. Well, that's what I saw - just saying.

In addition to Nathan's high temperature, the Dr. felt Nathan was dangerously dehydrated. Since Nathan wasn't drinking fluids, an IV would have to be administered. How do you explain dehydration to a 2yr old? How do you explain the necessity of a needle staying stuck in your arm to a 2 yr old? Nathan sobbed and wept for almost 2 hours straight, while that IV was in his arm. Interestingly though, his temperature dropped just minutes after his IV was inserted.







Much later, when the IV was finally removed. The world was a better place again.
Nathan sat in my lap for a little while and just 'recovered', then he eventually made it over to dada's lap and played a little.




His little eyes were so swollen from crying for so long though that his little face was puffy all over.

But if Nathan can smile at the end of the day, then I certainly can to. But this day DOES go on the Top Ten Least Favorite Days list!

Remember the Backyard post from a few months ago? Well, we are still working on it! It's a timely and costly process which makes it slow-going at times. However, we have made some progress! Here's what Greg has been able to do so far....

Get fill dirt for the raised flower beds.

Every day that Greg works on the backyard, this little munchin wants to help.

Halloween 2009 - Trunk or Treat!

For Halloween this year, we participated in our town's Trunk or Treat event that takes place in a local park. I had no idea it was as big event as it was! We hosted a 'trunk' with our friends and handed out candy to trick or treaters from 5-9. Imagine a continual, slow moving line of costumed kids and adults that lasts for approximately 4 hours! I heard that the number in attendance was about 4,000! Halloween on steroids, pretty epic.

Our trunk was a Western theme, complete with bales of hay and entertainment:






So last year Nathan was a Lion. This year he was a Tiger. Any guesses what he will probably be next year? By that time, he may have a personal opinion of what he wants to dress up as but if not...I'm going for the Bear! He makes one cute little Tiger though.





When we first got to the park, he clinged to me and was very slow to warm up (as in most new situations). Once he felt comfortable, we walked down a portion of the line and he just mimicked the other kids. I pointed out the person to hold his basket up to and he would say "Trik or Trea".





While we were at our 'trunk' he helped pass out candy and for each person he gave candy to he would continue to say "Trik or Trea". It was pretty funny. Pretty Cute.




And while we hung out at our trunk, he noticed his BFF with a sucker.

Naturally, he requested the same and he got to eat his first Tootsie Pop! A sticky mess - never again.





Someone in particular was not so happy that the Texas game was on during the Trunk or Treat event. However, he paused for a minute to dress up (the hat) for a quick picture, but that was the extent of it for you know who.


It was a fun night but what's interesting is what leaves the biggest impression with a 2 yr old.
Not the candy. Not the costumes. Not trick or treating. It was a Fire Juggler who entertained the crowd in this area.


Later in the night, Nathan would yell "Mommy, Mommy! Watch!" He would then twirl a big glow stick (in the very first picture) in the air or pretend to pass it under the leg, imitating the Fire Juggler. I don't have a picture of the Fire Juggler or Nathan imitating him but it was the best part of the night. As we headed home and Nathan dozed off in the car seat, eyes closed, he held on to the big glow stick, twirling it around in circles. It was absolutely PRECIOUS!

It was much fun and good times to be remembered until the next year!
